The absence of a warning for a given drug or drug combination in no way should be construed to indicate that the drug or drug combination is safe, effective or appropriate for any given patient. Laboratory Tests There are no specific laboratory tests recommended. (135926363) Revised: luvox or anafranil for ocd Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Concomitant Medication: Patients should luvox or anafranil for ocd advised to notify their health care providers if they are taking, or plan to take, any prescription or over-the-counter drugs, since there is a potential for clinically important interactions with Luvox CR Capsules. Activated charcoal should be administered.

If you luvox or anafranil for ocd any of these conditions, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take fluvoxamine. Theophylline: The effect of steady-state immediate-release fluvoxamine maleate tablets (50 mg tablets given twice daily) on the pharmacokinetics of a single dose of theophylline (375 mg as 442 mg aminophylline) was evaluated in 12 healthy non-smoking, male volunteers. SSRIs and SNRIs, including Luvox CR Capsules, have been associated with cases of clinically significant hyponatremia in elderly patients, who may be at greater risk for this adverse event (see PRECAUTIONS, Hyponatremia). Do not take 2 doses at once. Thioridazine: See CONTRAINDICATIONS and WARNINGS. Side effects may occur. Check with your doctor before you use medicines that may cause drowsiness (eg, sleep aids, muscle relaxers) while you are using Luvox CR Extended-Release Capsules; it may add to their effects. Read it again each time you get Luvox CR Extended-Release Capsules refilled. Potential Tizanidine Interaction Fluvoxamine is a potent inhibitor of CYP1A2 and tizanidine is a CYP1A2 substrate. If this is not treated right away, it could lead to permanent sexual problems such as impotence. Postmarketing Reports Voluntary reports of adverse events in patients taking fluvoxamine maleate immediate-release tablets that have been received since market introduction and are of unknown causal relationship to fluvoxamine use include: acute renal failure, agranulocytosis, amenorrhea, anaphylactic reaction, angioedema, aplastic anemia, bullous eruption, Henoch-Schoenlein purpura, hepatitis, hyponatremia, ileus, laryngismus, neuropathy, pancreatitis, porphyria, priapism, serotonin syndrome, severe akinesia with fever when fluvoxamine was co-administered with antipsychotic medication, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, vasculitis, and ventricular tachycardia (including torsades de pointes). Serotonin luvox or anafranil for ocd or Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS)-like Reactions The development of a potentially life-threatening serotonin syndrome or Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS)-like reactions have been reported with SNRIs and SSRIs alone, including Luvox CR Capsules treatment, but particularly with concomitant use of serotonergic drugs (including triptans) with drugs which impair metabolism of serotonin (including MAOIs), or with antipsychotics or other dopamine antagonists. This suggests that fluvoxamine is metabolized, at least in part, by CYP2D6. One case of bradycardia and hypotension and a second case of orthostatic hypotension have been reported with the co-administration of immediate-release fluvoxamine maleate tablets and metoprolol. The mean maximal effect on blood pressure luvox or anafranil for ocd a 35 mm luvox or anafranil for ocd decrease in systolic blood pressure, a 20 mm Hg decrease luvox or anafranil for ocd diastolic blood pressure, and a 4 beat/min decrease in heart rate. In OCD patients the following events were seen: abdominal pain, flu syndrome, infection, palpitation, flatulence, increased appetite, weight gain, abnormal dreams, amnesia, hypertonia, nervousness, paresthesia, increased cough, dyspnea, rhinitis, and ear pain.
Skin: Infrequent: alopecia, dry skin, eczema, exfoliative dermatitis, furunculosis, seborrhea, skin discoloration, urticaria. Some cases presented with features resembling a serotonin syndrome or neuroleptic malignant syndrome. All patients had moderate-to-severe OCD (DSM-III-R) with mean baseline ratings on the Children's Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (CY-BOCS) total score of 24. Gastric lavage with a large-bore orogastric tube with appropriate airway protection, if needed, may be indicated if performed soon after ingestion, or in symptomatic patients. However, there is substantial evidence from placebo-controlled maintenance trials in adults with depression that the use of antidepressants can delay the recurrence of depression. Drug Abuse and Dependence Controlled Substance Class Luvox CR is not a controlled substance. Accordingly, diazepam and fluvoxamine should not ordinarily be co-administered. However, depression and certain other mental problems may also increase the risk of suicide. In managing overdosage, consider the possibility of multiple drug involvement. Neonates luvox or anafranil for ocd to immediate-release fluvoxamine maleate tablets and other SSRIs or SNRIs luvox or anafranil for ocd in the third trimester have developed complications requiring prolonged hospitalization, respiratory support, and tube feeding (see PRECAUTIONS).
