Precautions General Discontinuation Symptoms There have been reports of adverse reactions upon the discontinuation of Remeron®/ RemeronSolTab® (mirtazapine) Orally Disintegrating Tablets (particularly when abrupt), including but not limited to the following: dizziness, abnormal dreams, sensory disturbances (including paresthesia and electric shock sensations), agitation, anxiety, fatigue, confusion, headache, tremor, nausea, vomiting, and sweating, or other symptoms which may be of clinical significance. All other premarketing overdose cases resulted in full recovery. Body as a Whole: frequent: malaise, abdominal pain, abdominal syndrome acute; infrequent: chills, fever, face edema, ulcer, photosensitivity reaction, neck rigidity, neck pain, abdomen enlarged; rare: cellulitis, chest pain substernal. Diazepam Concomitant administration of diazepam (15 mg) had remeron and high blood pressure minimal effect on plasma levels of mirtazapine (15 mg) in 12 healthy subjects. Clinical Trials Showing Effectiveness The efficacy of Remeron (mirtazapine) Tablets as a treatment for major depressive disorder was established in 4 placebo-controlled, 6-week trials in adult outpatients meeting DSM-III criteria for major depressive disorder. How should you take Remeron SolTab? remeron and high blood pressure may be taken with or without food. Do not use mirtazapine if you have taken an MAO inhibitor such as furazolidone (Furoxone), isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) in the last 14 days. Remember, keep this and all other medicines out of the reach of children, never share your medicines with others, and use this medication only for the indication prescribed. RemeronSolTab® (mirtazapine) Orally Disintegrating Tablets should be used with caution in patients remeron and high blood pressure impaired hepatic function (see CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY and DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION). Follow your doctor's instructions. The cited figures, however, do provide the prescribing physician with some basis for estimating the relative contribution of drug and nondrug factors to the side-effect incidence rate in the population studied. This is not a complete list of side effects and remeron and high blood pressure may occur. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following: Hydantoins (eg, phenytoin) because they may decrease Remeron's effectiveness remeron and high blood pressure furazolidone, or MAOIs (eg, remeron and high blood pressure because side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, or seizures, may occur Fluvoxamine because it may increase the risk of Remeron's side effects Clonidine because it may decrease Remeron's effectiveness This may not be a complete list of all interactions that may occur. Individuals being treated with Remeron and their caregivers should watch for any change in symptoms or any new symptoms that appear suddenly—especially agitation, anxiety, hostility, remeron and high blood pressure restlessness, extreme hyperactivity, and suicidal thinking or behavior—and report them to the doctor immediately. Other reported gastrointestinal adverse effects have included diarrhea (9%), nausea (4%), vomiting, anorexia, cholecystitis, glossitis, and colitis.
