Also be sure to tell your doctor if you have a history of seizures, mania (extremely high spirits), hypomania (mild excitability), drug use, or any other physical or emotional problems. Depression and certain other psychiatric disorders are themselves associated with increases in the risk of suicide. Read it carefully. Mirtazapine is used to treat major depressive disorder. It may take up to several weeks before your symptoms improve. Do not use mirtazapine if you have taken an MAO inhibitor such as furazolidone (Furoxone), isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) in the last 14 days. Accordingly, patients should be advised to avoid alcohol while taking remeron dose dosage form of mirtazapine. The highest doses used are approximately 20 and 12 times the maximum recommended human dose (MRHD) of 45 mg/day on an mg/m2 remeron dose in mice and rats, respectively.
